We see some artists from Uganda, Tanzania and Kenya perform in each others countries and do collabos. But has the sense of UTaKe reached its potential for building unity in East African entertainment? And what does UTaKe mean to you?

WE HAVE SEEN HOW SPORTS CAN INSPIRE EXCITEMENT AMONG EAST AFRICANS. SHOULD GOVERNMENTS AND ORGANISATIONS INVEST MORE IN SPORTS AND ENCOURAGE MORE YOUTH TO PLAY? WOULD THAT BOOST PATRIOTISM? HOW CAN PATRIOTISM HELP EAST AFRICA?

Government and other organisations should invest in soccer because in Tanzania and part of Africa there are the best players and good teams but the problem is capital or money - enough to pay the team and those who generate the team to grow, I think it’s the time now.

If the govt inspires the people involved they will be happy to play and win. For instance in Kenya sports people arent paid so they opt for overseas where they get more money. Its high time that the EA region wakes up a nature their own.

We have to invest more in sports starting from the primary school level and establish more sports academies, if we will build this system definetly patriotism will come to place.

Very good Idea Indeed!! Sports can boost us in many ways!! Let the governments and organisations put emphasis on sports!! But which kind of sports? Lets first concentrate on the traditional sports than the so much Westernised kind of sport!! Otherwise all we need to do is also support our local teams as a whole!! Lets give them the support we give to Western teams like Man Utd and Arsenal or Chelsea!!! With that, East africa will be bound to become Africa’s GIANT and the World’s BEST!!! Sports for sure has done wonders. Other than the euphoria and entertainment that we’ve received. Its also played a vital role in enhancing cohesiveness and peace among our nations. I’m happy about how sports is taken seriously in Kenya, rather than siphoning money out of the country, its bringing in Billions of Shillings in the name of excellent athletes who win. And also tourist attractions cause athletes sell the country abroad. We have also seen the govt. and companies scrambling to sponsor sports. But this is not the case in our sister countries, Uganda and Tanzania if preparations for all Africa Games is anything to go by. Then Tanzania and Uganda shouldn’t focus on football alone, diverse the way Kenya has done by playing other games that are considered elite, like: cricket,rugby etc. Even though I am proudly East African, my Country -KENYA - successes in sports makes me more proud of it than the entire East African Region. So unless TZ and Ug ups their ante in Sports, I’ll remain to be ’PROUDLY KENYAN’.
